Loco 5552

Loco 5552

Here is loco 5552 standing at the station, this is The Bodmin and Wenford Steam Railway in Cornwall. As always on holiday we can't go to long with out a ride on a steam train and this seemed to be perfect. The railway runs from Bodmin General and then run up to Bodmin Parkway, returns back to Bodmin General and then goes on another line to Boscarne Junction. It's a good couple of runs with some steep gradients to climb, the line all in all is about 13 miles long and with some lovely countryside to see.

It is well worth a trip on this line.

Loco and carriage

Loco and carriage

6435 was built in April 1937 and spent its working life in South Wales. In July 2008 it was purchased by the Bodmin and Wenford Railway Trust. This train and carriage runs as what is known as an auto train which is where the driver can drive the train from the loco or the end of the carriage.
30120 T9

30120 T9

This is a T9 built at Nine Elms in 1899 this is the sole surviver of this type. This engine has been around the perserved railways in the South including spending time at The Midhants Railway, a static exhibit at The Bluebell line to finally coming to The Bodmin and Wenford Railway and was put into service there in August 2010.

Loco 30587

Loco 30587

This loco was built in 1874 at a cost of £2570.00 and worked in the London surburban areas. It's had many different numbers and colours over the years but in 2002 it arrived at Bodmin and as you can see it was still steaming here.
Loco 4612

This loco was built in 1942 at Swindon.

The Bodmin and Wenford Trust bought this loco in July 2001 and is now in steam service.

Cornwall Regimental Museum

Cornwall Regimental Museum

This lovely building and statue is The Cornwall Regimental Museum and tells the story of the counties regiment from 1702 to the present. Sadly the day we were there it was closed but the beautiful grade II listed building was very nice.
Happy Jess

Happy Jess

After the ride on the steam railway Jess needed to let steam off herself and here she is doing just that in the River Fowey.
Without Jess

Without Jess

A very pretty river, had to take this picture quick while Jess was out the water for a few seconds...
Watching from above

Watching from above

While we were sitting having a ice cream above us were a couple of Buzzards keeping an eye on us.
