Brooklands Museum
We spent a lovely day at The Brooklands Musuem, Weybridge. Surrey. There was lot to see and keep us busy even if it was in March. We also went for a look around the Hugh Mecredes building which is a short walk from the museum and here one of our party took put in the AMG driving.
It's well worth a trip here, infact we didn't have enough time to finish of Brooklands so we will be making a return trip somewhen when they have an event on.
Enjoy the pictures.
The racing lock ups
Here we see the row of lock up sheds which were built as garages to prepare cars for racing years ago but today inside there is a collection of ERA vehicles, a cycle exhibition along with other interesting vehicles.
A full garage
Inside another of the buildings is Grand Prix Exhibition and on the side of the building is this mock-up of a garage, this looks just like my Dads garage when I was a child... A lovely MG and a Norton. Even the cup from where he had his cuppa.
The test Hill
This is the famous Brooklands test hill, built in 1909 for the motor industry to test acceleration and brakes on and still used today at many of the events which are held here in the year.
Hawker Hunter
One of the many aeroplanes in the grounds at Brooklands
Grandad sitting in the Harrier Jump Jet
Harry sitting in the Harrier Jump Jet
I'm not sure who enjoyed this more Grandad or Harry?
Scammell Canteen trailer
This is in a new building which houses the largest private sector collection of London Buses, ranging from 1890's to 1970's.
This picture above was my favourite vehicle in there. A London Transport Canteen Trailer.
The Scammell and buses
I believe the Scammell was featured in Old Glory Magazine at the beginning of 2012.
Vickers aircraft
There are a few Vickers aircraft on the site which you can go on board, all the Vickers aircraft here were built at Brooklands after 1945.
Concorde
This is one of the Concorde's that was taking out of service in 2003, this one is G-BBDG.
There is a great tour of inside the aircraft along with a virtual flight, it's called "The Concorde Experience". You do have to book for this so make sure you book you slot either before you go or when you first get there as it gets very booked up.
Brought back lots of memories for myself and my Husband as in 1991 we got engage on Concorde on a trip to Lapland.
AMG Experience
Next to the Brooklands Museum is The Mercedes Benz AMG Driving Experiences which my husband had been given as a present for christmas. This is him above doing one of the many skills they put you through on the hours drive. He loved it, this is him on the skid pan finally getting it right.
View Suspended II
This is a Mercedes GP Petronas Formula One car suspended from a specially made frame which each of the 3200 pieces are hanging on a bit of wire and it is called "View Suspended II".
It is very impresive..
