A day trip to The Isle of Wight
These pictures I took last August while on a sunny day trip to the Isle of White, we went spent a lovely day driving around the island visiting many places.
The best thing is the island is only about 25 miles from where we live so a quick trip across the Solent on the ferry and we have a great day out...
Enjoy the pictures.
Looking out to sea from Yarmouth
Yarmonth is a lovely seaside town with pretty streets full of nice little shpos. Yarmonth is located on the west side of the Island and here you can see all the boats moored out at sea. Its a lovely place to take a wonder round on a sunny afternoon.
Looking towards Portmouth from the island
If you know the area of Portsmonth you will know Portsdown Hill, here you can just see the chalk hill back on the mainland...

Yarmonth Pier
This peir was originally built in 1875 and a length of 685 feet, in the 1990's the peir had a major restoration and in the summer months the steam paddler "The Waverley" sometimes uses the peir. Here it picks up its passengers for a trip round the island.
Returning home
What a great way to spend a day, sailing around the island...
The ferries cross in the distance
A boat with wheels!!!
We watched this boat come into the beach at Yarmonth as we were wondering why it had wheels. When it got to the beach the wheels came down and it drove up the pebbles where the passengers got out and went to the pub...

Colours in the sky
Sorry this isn't the clearest of pictures but I love the colours in the sky
The Spinnaker Tower and Southsea
Here we are on the ferry about half way across the Solent and I took this picture of Southsea sea front and The Spinnaker Tower
